About Us

A Place To Praise, Worship, and Grow

Our Vision

“Making Disciples, Building Families, and Meeting the Needs of All.”

Our Mission

Our Mission is to help anyone of all backgrounds and who has the desire to build a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Theme-“A Waiting World-A Willing Church”

Matthew 28:19-“Go Ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

Our Beliefs

We believe the Bible to be the inspired and the only written Word of God.

We believe that there is One God, existent in three Persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance, faith in Jesus Christ, and the confession of our sins with our mouths.

We believe there are two ordinances of the Baptist Church; the solemn meal of Holy Communion and Baptism in water by immersion in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ and the rapture of the Saints.

We believe in the autonomy of the local church. We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit and its sanctifying power by whose indwelling, the Christian is enabled to live a Holy and separated life in this present world.

Our Legacy-Our History

Gunter’s Chapel Baptist Church (GCBC) began over 41 years ago as a small membership under the direction of Pastor Lewis Gunter (Founder). The church was organized with 22 chartered members, and was officially named the Gunter’s Chapel Baptist Church (Holy Ghost Station), and was chartered by the State of South Carolina in 1977.  Since that time the Lord has blessed us with over 2,000 members.

With continued guidance of the Holy Spirit and insight of our Pastor and Officers, we were able to purchase a sanctuary already erected at 1631 Windover Road.  Gunter’s Chapel had its Ground Breaking and Dedication Ceremony on May 10, 1992 for the building of the New Gunter’s Chapel Baptist Church.

We also purchased a parking lot, 2 houses and two condos. Pastor Lewis, First Lady Lue Gunter and the Gunter’s Chapel Baptist Church have been a cornerstone of support in the Belvedere Community was honored on April 26, 2015 when Windover Road was dedicated in honor of our Pastor to Lewis Gunter Way.

We are a loving, growing Church and very excited about the Lord Jesus Christ and committed to serving God’s people.

Thanks for visiting us. We look forward to meeting you in person! To God be the Glory

Pastor Lewis Gunter
